Punjab government announced to issue mazdoor card to 22 lakh worker

 The Punjab Government of Pakistan is introducing an initiative to issue special ‘Mazdoor Cards’ to 22 lakh workers in order to provide them financial security and facilitate them with easy access to banking services. This initiative is part of a larger drive to improve the socio-economic condition of workers in the province. 

The Mazdoor Card will be equipped with a debit card facility, allowing the worker to deposit and withdraw money at their convenience. The card will be linked to their bank account and will help the workers keep track of their finances. The payment for wages or remunerations will be transferred directly to their banking accounts via the cards, thereby reducing the likelihood of losses due to cash transactions. Furthermore, workers in the province will also be provided access to a range of banking services related to salary accounts and loans. This initiative will thus contribute towards empowering workers and providing them with greater financial freedom.

The Punjab Government has focused its attention on marginalised workers in the province, especially those working in the informal sector such as domestic and part-time workers. The Government has also increased its efforts towards implementing labour laws and providing them with social protection. It has included domestic workers in the annual census for the first time, ensuring that they can access benefits such as health insurance, pension and disability services. 

The initiative to issue Mazdoor Cards to 22 lakh workers of Punjab will benefit them greatly, as they access a range of banking services at their fingertips.
